For this project I collaborated with a local traditional ceramic artist to create a unique product line.
I was responsible not only for designing the products, but also for developing Dor de Viu's ("Longing for life") brand identity from scratch.
This experience was very meaningful to me, being the first time I designed something so deeply rooted in a cultural tradition.
Project
The brand's core identity was centered on a trio of powerful values (creativity, authenticity, and professionalism).
My task as a product designer was to creatively integrate these values, coming up with visually engaging and modern products that would reflect the brand's quality.
I worked on several brand assets and guidelines, but I mainly focused on designing a logo, a business card, packaging options and a promo video.
LOGO DESIGN
I requested from the client several personal works that they thought of as representative of their views, and used them as a starting point.
Even though the client wanted an emblem logo, I came up with different types and ideas, which I found more appropriate for the brand's values.
The chosen logo concept represented the duality of Dor de Viu: the ceramics (with the central plate design) and the livelihood (the bird).
BUSINESS CARD
The front of the card required an organized layout that included the client's details and brand logo. The design needed to maintain a minimalist and clean aesthetic that was consistent with the overall style.
Based on the ceramics design that the client created, I digitalized one of their most frequently used elements. I used this to create a repeating pattern that would also help me in my future product designs.
The back of the card featured the pattern as the background, with the company logo as the central point. To ensure that the logo didn't blend into the background, I added a solid-colored circle behind it. This visual separation allowed the logo to be the principal focus of the card.
